HOW WE LEARN
What makes Freedom Academy different from traditional schools?
Freedom Academy is a learner-driven, faith-based school where students take ownership of their education. Instead of one-size-fits-all instruction, we use individualized learning plans, mastery-based academics, and hands-on, real-world experiences to help each child grow into who God created them to be.
What does a typical day look like?
Students engage in:
- Core academics (math, reading, writing)
- Small group instruction and guided support
- Socratic discussions and Bible study
- Project-based learning (science, history, entrepreneurship, etc.)
- Outdoor time and movement
- Independent work tied to personal goals
Our days are structured—but flexible enough to meet each child’s needs.
Is this structured or do kids just “do whatever they want”?
We are highly intentional and structured.
Students follow clear expectations, daily rhythms, and academic goals. The difference is that students have ownership within that structure—learning how to manage time, make decisions, and take responsibility for their work.
How much screen time is there?
Technology is used as a tool—not a babysitter.
Students typically spend about 90 minutes per day on technology-based learning, balanced with hands-on projects, discussions, and real-world application.
Is there homework?
No.
We believe time after school should be spent with family, in activities, and in real life experiences—not worksheets.
ACADEMICS & PROGRESS
Will my child be academically prepared?
Yes.
Students build strong foundations in reading, writing, and math through structured, mastery-based learning. Many students meet or exceed grade-level expectations—and often accelerate because they are not held back or rushed forward unnecessarily.
How do you track progress without traditional grades?
We use:
- Mastery-based tracking
- Student portfolios
- Goal setting and progress monitoring
- Scheduled and by-request parent communication and updates
You will clearly see your child’s growth—without comparing them to others.
What if my child is behind or struggling?
We meet students where they are. Because learning is individualized:
- Students who need support receive targeted instruction
- There is no pressure to “keep up” with a class pace
- Confidence is rebuilt alongside skill
What if my child is academically advanced?
Students are free to move ahead as they demonstrate mastery. We don’t hold students back—so advanced learners can continue growing without limits.
What support is available if my child struggles with reading?
We take reading development seriously and provide built-in support during the school day.
Freedom Academy has a dedicated reading interventionist on-site, allowing us to:
- Identify gaps early
- Provide targeted, small-group or individual support
- Help students build both skill and confidence
Because our model is individualized, students receive the support they need without falling behind or feeling compared to others.
Do you support students with dyslexia or reading challenges?
Yes—this is an area we are deeply equipped to support.
We have:
- Trained educators experienced in working with dyslexic learners
- A structured, dyslexia-informed ELA curriculum
- On-site private tutoring available as needed
- Customized support plans based on each child’s unique needs
Our goal is not just to help students “keep up,” but to help them build strong literacy foundations and confidence in how they learn best.
What makes your reading and language arts approach effective?
We use a structured, research-backed approach to literacy combined with individualized pacing.
This means:
- Students build foundational skills step-by-step
- Instruction is explicit and intentional (not guess-based)
- Gaps are addressed early before they compound
For students who need additional support, we layer in intervention and personalized strategies—so no child gets left behind.
Will my child fall behind if they need extra support?
No.
Because learning is individualized:
- Students move at the pace they need
- Support is built into the school day
- Progress is based on mastery—not comparison
Many students who come in behind actually accelerate over time because their gaps are finally addressed properly.
How do you support both struggling and advanced learners at the same time?
Our model is designed for exactly that.
- Students who need support receive targeted instruction and intervention
- Students who are advanced continue progressing without being held back
Each child is working at their level, with guidance and accountability, so everyone is growing—just not in a one-size-fits-all way.
My child has struggled in school before—how is this going to be different?
At Freedom Academy, students are not labeled, rushed, or compared.
Instead, we:
- Meet them exactly where they are
- Rebuild foundational skills
- Restore confidence alongside academics
For many families, the biggest transformation isn’t just academic—it’s watching their child begin to believe in themselves again.
COMMUNITY & ENVIRONMENT
Are students grouped by grade?
We use mixed-age studios, which allow for:

How is faith incorporated?
Faith is woven into the entire school experience.

We focus on helping students understand who they are in Christ and live that out daily.
